The renovation model of a sheltered home for the elderly

Sotera's reseach assistant Marko Rajala made his Master's thesis as part of the Tett project. His  thesis was accepted on the 27.09.2005. Congratulations!

He developed a model for the design process of a sheltered home for the elderly. He studied ways in which spatial planning can have an impact on the environment of the inhabitants of a sheltered home, on the maintenance of their functional capabilities and on their ability to manage everyday life, hence influencing the operational costs of the sheltered home.

The renovation model of a sheltered home for the elderly consists of three aspects: 1) definition of inhabitant profiles, 2) analysis and design of elements of solutions and 3) evaluation of alternative solutions.
